		<description>Hi Charles,

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I am no longer working with middle school students. Those students were in Korea anyhow. Good luck with your project, though I suspect you may be finishing soon.

Dear Dave:

West Virginia students will now be able to participate in an international category for the Social Studies Fair. International is a special category for the 2009-10 academic year. To participate in this category, students must work alongside two or more students from a school in another country to investigate and research a problem, issue, condition, or historical event, then determine action(s) that could be taken to improve a mutual problem or current global issue.

Students must consider a variety of perspectives in addition to their own and those of their counterparts, then determine how to communicate those perspectives through an oral presentation with the help of a project display board and/or multimedia presentation.

My social studies students have chosen to send tests in five different subject areas to a school in Australia and ask respective teachers to administer the test to 20 seventh grade students in each of the subject areas. This same school will send their respective seventh grade tests in the same areas to my students. My students will take the tests and the results will be compared. After some introduction to testing my students will analyze the results and report on the reasons for any differences if indeed, any exist. The discussion of the results, conclusions reached, and display of results will all be the students’ work.
I you can find a middle school teacher or teachers willing to participate, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. Unfortunately, the time frame is narrow (finished projects are due February 10, 2010) but I think with the use of the internet the deadline can be met. Thanking you in advance for your assistance, I remain

Sincerely yours,
