Hi, I’m David.  I’m a writer.  I blog to keep track of my life, but also to track my ideas as they change and are shaped over time.  I am especially interested in philosophy, morality, film and psychology, though never in such a discrete and disjointed order.  They’re all related, somehow. I am an atheist, though I am currently developing my own idea of religion, entitled Etheism which holds that God is universal energy of which we are all a part.

A little history… I grew up in Melbourne, Australia.  Went to The University of Melbourne and studied Science, shifted streams to Computer Science.  What that has to do with becoming a writer is anyone’s guess, but I figured that it would be nice to have some kind of marketable skill should writing not work out.  Since then I’ve drifted in and out of computers.  They’re my main squeeze right now, but the future holds much more interesting things, of that I have no doubt.

I really do appreciate comments and discussing various ideas.  My personal attitudes are libertarian, both socially and politically.  I am a believer in free market capitalism (Austrian economics versus Keynesian).  I believe that the internet has given birth to a purer, more universal system of capitalism and I’m grateful for this every day.  That said, I’m quite resigned to the idea that capitalism will be forever misunderstood and just do my best not to get into arguments on the subject.

I write when I feel like writing, not because I have to.  I recently took away all the stupid ads from the site.  Sorry I left them up so long.

That’s a little bit about me, all else can be found here in my blog.

      Hi Dave,

I have hired staff from tom.mcnamee@radleygroup.com.au for a project. Give him a call and introduce yourself. Ask him if he has any work, He also does a lot of contract work if that suits you.

      Regards,
      Sujoy

      Dear Dave:

West Virginia students will now be able to participate in an international category for the Social Studies Fair. International is a special category for the 2009-10 academic year. To participate in this category, students must work alongside two or more students from a school in another country to investigate and research a problem, issue, condition, or historical event, then determine action(s) that could be taken to improve a mutual problem or current global issue.

Students must consider a variety of perspectives in addition to their own and those of their counterparts, then determine how to communicate those perspectives through an oral presentation with the help of a project display board and/or multimedia presentation.

My social studies students have chosen to send tests in five different subject areas to a school in Australia and ask respective teachers to administer the test to 20 seventh grade students in each of the subject areas. This same school will send their respective seventh grade tests in the same areas to my students. My students will take the tests and the results will be compared. After some introduction to testing my students will analyze the results and report on the reasons for any differences if indeed, any exist. The discussion of the results, conclusions reached, and display of results will all be the students’ work.
I you can find a middle school teacher or teachers willing to participate, I would appreciate it if you would contact me. Unfortunately, the time frame is narrow (finished projects are due February 10, 2010) but I think with the use of the internet the deadline can be met. Thanking you in advance for your assistance, I remain

      Sincerely yours,

      Walter McMann

      Hi Charles,

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I am no longer working with middle school students. Those students were in Korea anyhow. Good luck with your project, though I suspect you may be finishing soon.

      David
