Seoul Again

2005

Wow what a week! This time last week I was just returning to camp from an awesome skiing trip and now I’m sitting here in Seoul, missing the camp I left behind. It’s been so sad to leave all my students and come back to my normal life. It’s amazing just how attached to these kids I got after just two weeks. It’s mutual too, at the send off there were many sad faces. It’s great to be a teacher sometimes, so rewarding but at the same time it’s painful to say goodbye.

I’m making a new photo gallery folder of the camp. It is a sample of pictures that I took along the way. I realized that there actually aren’t that many and that I should have taken more.. but I always realize that too late. I’ll have to get my hands on some more photos that others took.

On February 10th I’ll board a plane and head back to Australia for a vacation. It’s going to be one year, one month and one week since I left. Possibly some adjustment will be needed upon returning. I dare say I’ll miss a lot of things from here but that’s cool because I miss a lot of things from there and I’ve gotten used to that.

Camping It Up in Daejeon

Well it has been a long time, although it didn’t seem like that when I was living it. After returning from Thailand, with a little regret, I headed out to work at a camp in Daejeon, 2 hours from Seoul. And that’s where I am right now, in my Love Motel residence, typing at my computer. Having not seen an update in a long time, it is time for another.

The camp is great. Apart from the early morning starts, forcing me to bear the -10 degree weather at 7 o’clock in the morning, the camp is actually a nice lifestyle. I get my accommodation and three meals provided for me. There are a good group of people to work with and the kids are really keen and enthusiastic. Daejeon leaves a little bit to be desired in terms of things to do, but that is possibly a good thing. It provides less opportunity to spend money. I posted some photos in the Photo Gallery of the camp.

So all in all, it’s a great place to be and I’m living well. While the weather is a little prohibitive, it’s also quite fun getting all rugged up in warm clothes. By the way, I heard a joke…wanna hear it? What do you do if you see a space man? Answer: Park in it, man!

And on that note… :P
